Initiated in the year 1981 during the United Nations General Assembly, the International Day of Peace was celebrated on the third Tuesday of September every year... But, in the year 2001, the then UN President Kofi Annan suggested 21st September for its dedication...
From 2002 onwards, to created an awareness among World countries for Peace, absence of War and violence, International Day of Peace was held on this day every year...
To commemorate this day, India Post released a 5-rupees postage stamp in the year 2005...
Also, the Peace Bell which symbolizes the Peace among the Nations, was donated by Japan to United Nations peace activities... This Peace Bell was commemorated by the United Nations New York Postal Administration with the release of a 6-cents postage stamp in the year 1970...
