Sri Lanka Navy was created during the British colonial rule in 1937 as Ceylon Naval Volunteer Force...  Post Sri Lankan Independence in the year 1948, the Royal Ceylon Navy came into existence on 9-December-1950 to safeguard the countries borders... 

When Ceylon became a Republic, the Royal Ceylon Navy was renamed as Sri Lanka Navy... 

Sri Lankan Postal Administration commemorated the 60th Anniversary of Sri Lanka Navy with the release of a postage stamp in the year 2010...
