Japan Mountain Day, a move scheduled annually on August 11, was established in the year 2016 to celebrate all things mountain related in Japan, a nation whose culture was once founded on nature-inspired Shintoism...

Celebrated to share the opportunities to get familiar with mountains and appreciate the blessings from mountains...

The day was commemorated by Japan Postal Administration with the release of 10 postage stamps celebrating the mountains viz., Mt. Asahi, Mt. Yari, Mt. Iwate, Mt. Daisen, Kuju Mountain range... It also commemorated the animals like Japanese Guinea Pig ; Flora such as Komakusa and Viola ; mountain Butterfly and the Bunting bird...
