30-September... Inauguration of Hoover Dam...

Initiated in the year 1876, the construction of the dam started only in the year 1928 across the Colorado river... The construction was ably supported by the then American President Herbert Hoover... The dam was named after him as Hoover Dam during its construction...

But, upon completion of its construction, while inaugurating, the American President Franklin Roosevelt named it as Boulder Dam...  The Dam was inaugurated on this day in the year 1935...  However, after the Second World War, in the year 1947, the dam renamed as Hoover Dam, in memory of the President Herbert Hoover...
